Hey, just hopping in to drum up some votes. I entered Mionetto's cocktail contest, and if you guys could vote for me, that'd be great. Feel free to try my Sky of Blue cocktail, too. It's pretty good, if I do say so myself.

NEVER use a "Lint-free polishing cloth" on a shiny surface like an LCD TV stand, even if it comes with a notebook cleaning kit. It will scratch the surface.

Yes...I discovered that the lint-free polishing cloths have a tendency to leave minor scratches on shiny surfaces, like Anna-Lena II's stand. Thankfully, the scratches can't be seen under normal circumstances, only when you have light above you and look down at the stand. Even then, they are very light and the shiny stand still shines.

Makes me wonder though. The instructions for the kit state that you can use it to clean your LCD screen and all surfaces of the computer. What if your laptop is one that has a shiny finish, like those fancy Toshiba's with their "Fusion" finish? You will end up scratching the surface little by little with those kinds of finishes. The instructions even say "apply weekly". I just use them once in awhile to clear off dirt and gunk off the LCD screen! Thus, from now on, I will only use these kits for the screen. The polishing cloth doesn't scratch the screen thankfully.

Oh...I also used the grip tape on Elsie's sensor bar to attach it to the top of Anna-Lena II. It kept falling off whenever I was swapping RF connections.

3DTV is good. I just bought a 3D capable game for Jess last night- Star Strike HD (aka Super Stardust HD) off the Asian PSN store. This bring my 3D capable game count up to two-I already have WipEOut HD Fury thanks to the PSN Welcome Back programme, which was upgraded to support 3D TV sets last year. I also downloaded a 3D viewer app for Jess - PlayMemories. This would come in handy and allow me to view images captured by a 3D-capable camera.

I hope it's compatible with images captured using a 3DS. Once Animal Crossing 3DS comes out, I'm getting one.

Just because I got a new boombox off eBay, my Panasonic starts acting up.

See, the Panasonic's tape player doesn't work. I only used it for the radio part, which is very good.

Then tonight, the right tape deck suddenly starts working! Not too well though. And the unit now makes this annoying mechanical whirring sound since the left tape deck is somehow stuck and won't engage properly. It always has been that way, and it made that noise once before, last summer for a couple days before it stopped.

So, I now have to use the Chelco for my music needs. On the plus side, I get one with a working tape player, but that Panasonic was from a friend of mine who moved away, and Im not letting it go.

I just bought one can of an energy drink with a offensive name.

Now I just need to try to get my hands on the other can of energy drink with an equally offensive name, some childrens drink with an childishly offensive name, mix them together, add hot coffee, and see if the concoction can induce male pregnancy. FOR SCIENCE!

I don't think I can get the other energy drink with an offensive name tho, since apparently the website states that it's UK only.

Alright, here's an update of my situation.

The store technician used a CD with the name Heiren/Hieren or whatever it is called. With the CD he could browse through the hard disk like using old version of Windows Explorer. The bad news is, the Documents folder, which is where 95% of important data are stored, is inaccessible with Access Denied message.

One possible hope spot is that he used a "Heiren" CD for Windows XP because he lost the one for Windows 7. Maybe the version difference caused the inaccessibility, especially that Lifebook NH-751 is still quite new? In any case, I asked him to get the correct version and try again, which will take another day. I also asked him not to do anything that might risk the data being hopelessly lost.

Is it a viable method if I remove the HDD from the machine and make it like an external hard disk to copy the data into another machine? I told the technician about this method, and he said it might be viable, but the machine will lose its warranty if he uses the method. Therefore, we are saving this method as last resort.

Anyway, any further opinion? It kinda sucks to lose a lot of data so suddenly. Heh, after this is over I will buy an External HD for my brother.

You can use a Linux distribution disc, like Ubuntu, and use the file browser to browse to the C drive and try to extract the documents that way, and copy them to a USB flash drive.

Oh, this is a little bit late in the game, but when the Windows Recovery came up, was a repair attempted? Windows Recovery offers some tools like startup repair as well as repairing Windows 7 without wiping out the hard drive.

Hmm, sounds like the hard disk wasn't trashed like my sister's is. In my sister's case the hard disk become corrupted that the partition is literally destroyed- cannot be accessed anymore at all.

Like Wade said, that's good. It can be repaired without reformat.

Scratch what I said about Heiren before.

My brain just fully activated after drinking coffee.

Windows 7 doesn't store data in the "C:\Documents and Settings" folder. Trying to access it will always result in a "Access Denied" error.


You want the C:\Users folder.


Regardless, let it go into recovery and in fact, use recovery startup repair. It will repair his windows install without erasing his data. But make sure you have a backup before you start anyway.
