Angel's remark from this past summer was still the best. "Your heart isn't a failure! It's a winner!"

I wish you the best as well! Hope for a speedy recovery!!

Oh..I also made my decision on DSU.

It is done.

I leave on Friday morning to greener pastures.
Good luck with the surgery, Pru! I'll be praying for you.

"Asperger's disease?" Now, that's rude! They have the mentality of Autism Speaks, which is quite dangerous.

Anyway, how is it possible that everywhere I go online, no matter how small community it is, I do find autistic people? It seems like aspies and auties find each other.

RAMChYLD Wrote:embarassing. I found out that you can actually apt-get install phpbb3 and Debian will install a preconfigured PHPBB for you, so the WGET and Links part is actually unnecessary Tongue
WOW, I didn't know you can install phpBB with apt-get! Though I have some concerns: how does the installer know to which virtual host should it install the package? Does it ask it? A server usually hosts multiple sites...

You should still have wget on a decent server. You'll just need it in the command-line once in a while. Though AFAIK wget is a requirement, because AFAIK apt-get uses it to download packages, so it will be installed anyway.

As for cPanel and similar eye-candy GUI stuff, I don't use them. I prefer to edit config files manually with nano or vi.

Ouch, that seems serious! Though I won't be praying for you, since I'm an atheist, I wish you the bests! Smile I assume you won't be online for a few days, then, am I right?

By the way, where is Angel?

Idk. Maybe it's a common issue?

Maybe it does the installation for all virtual hosts, or needs to be done in a host-by-host basis? It presented me with prompts to select a database during install. I was running the virtual server in an instance of virtualbox tho, not XEN or KVM, so I don't know how Debian will react on trying to install phpBB in a pseudo-virtualized environment- the environment my copy of Debian runs on is fully virtualized (Debian was running inside Virtualbox in Arch Linux).

Yep. It is preinstalled on all default Debian setup. I reinstalled the server a few times as an exercise and in all instances, wget came by default.

I prefer nano. I find vi and emacs too complicated to use. Though, in my time, we didn't have nano, we have pico instead. That was until some boffins decided that they didn't like UW Pico and UW Pine's licensing.

Goof luck, Grapes! Come back alive, ya hear?!

Well, she comes and goes like the wind Tongue She'll be back. If you want, I can give you her yahoo messenger and google+ contacts. No guarantees she'll be on tho.
I proceed to uninstall Microsoft Office for Mac 2011, since I can no longer legally have it installed because I am leaving DSU. Quick story: I bought student licensed versions of Office from the Business department last semester, for only $25 each. One problem...the license belongs to the college, not you. So if you withdraw, you are required to remove the software from your computer systems.

I followed this guide from Microsoft on how to remove Office 2011...
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2398768

I follow it according to the instructions given, and it was removed. All well and good. But, Yahoo Widget Engine stops working.

I use Yahoo Widget Engine so I can peek at the current weather conditions on my desktop. At first, it would run, but it was horribly broken. So I proceeded to uninstall it using a program called "AppDelete" along with Yahoo Messenger. I then reinstall Yahoo Widget Engine.

Now, it won't even launch at all, crashing immediately upon starting.

Im not sure if it was a botched Office uninstall, or something AppDelete did, but Yahoo Widget Engine no longer works, and I uninstalled and reinstalled twice already. Still no dice.

Now I am worried that other applications may be affected by this. Sad

So, I decided just to reinstall Lion from the recovery partition to be entirely safe. And I am just going to do all the backup stuff while I finish packing up my stuff. Lion is getting reinstalled before I go back home.

Thank goodness you can redownload purchased apps from the Mac App Store. I have a lot of them ranging from Games to the "iWork" office suite.

I really wish Microsoft still included an uninstall program with Office 2011.

EDIT: Some fonts don't look right in Safari now. Thanks M$, if you really did help break Lilly today.
Nearly done transferring files to discs. Thankfully, I don't need to copy as many videos to DVD as I have done in the past, mainly because most of it I already have on other backup discs.

As for packing, getting there. I will still be done by late night, but stuff like this takes time. Lilly will be the last thing to get packed up.
Chat room is now empty. Guess I should've logged in earlier in the day.

No, I don't mean "virtual hosts" as virtualized computers! By "virtual host", I mean when one Apache instance serves multiple sites. The most common approach is to configure name-based virtual hosts - in this case, Apache determines which site to serve by domain, which is sent by the client in the "Host" header.

Not sure if this helps, but I suspect it can be done.
