Well, before the episode "Stare Master" dubbed her ability The Stare, I referred to it as her going Alpha. One might think of it as her Mama Bear mode. But you have to keep in mind that just because Fluttershy represents the element of kindness doesn't mean that she's going to display it every second of the day. None of the mane six do. Rarity is often selfish, Pinkie Pie gets bummed out, Twilight forgets she can teleport, Rainbow Dash has been less-than-loyal, and even Applejack lies (though not well).

Interesting. Well, "The Stare" is probably used as a last resort if all else fails and perhaps she can't control when it happens (as she stated in "Stare Master"). It is indeed a good way to get a stubborn Angel to eat his food. It's strict, but perhaps it's not mean at all. In fact, it's one of the right ways to be assertive. Sometimes you have to be strict.

I wonder though if "The Stare" is more than just that. Could there be some real power behind it like telekineses or something? Who knows?

As for David...I probably won't continue that argument here. I don't want this thread to become an argument thread when we should be talking about other things.

I'm feeling depressed and like a stupid waste of space whom everyone deserves better than, who can never really fit in anywhere ("Even among misfits you're a misfit"), who is kidding herself if she thinks something won't go wrong and take her current life away, who doesn't deserve anything, and who is a sewed-up zombie cheating death. I've been hiding these and a lot of other gloomy feelings. On Friday night, I poured them all out to James and he said that was overwhelming just to listen to.

That depends on who the character is, how the character develops, what the effect of the development is, and if it in the long run changes the character for better or for worse.

The long run could be far longer than expected.

Let's make this much more complicated than a character who didn't actually change by the end of the referenced episode. Let's look at me from this perspective.

In my youngest years, I was very oblivious. This saved me from becoming insane, so there is an example of something seemingly negative having a positive effect. As I grew older, while still a child, I became prone to depression while outgrowing obliviousness. Around the time I was a preteen or a teenager, I developed bipolar disorder. I already had the DNA to develop it, though it would not have developed under better circumstances.*

Did that corrupt me? Well, you could say so.

What type of woman would I have become without this disorder?

I have no idea. I have no idea whatsoever. *I do not know if it would even have been possible for me to exist as a non-bipolar adult, to an extent.

Sometimes development can be sad.

I believe not. Development doesn't ever end. As people, we are always growing and changing, and it is every bit of development from our past that shapes our future. This applies to the negative as much as this applies to the positive and neutral. I would not have any of my children if I had not experienced negative developments in life. If I did have children, they would not be the kids I have now, because I would have never met my children's father.

People are very, very complex. Living is very, very complex. I personally love it when character and story development reflects complicated reality, even a little.

I honestly didn't want to bring this back up yet again, but I have to say it.

Your behavior is starting to get on my nerves. Especially the snarky comments you are leaving me at Facebook. I have tried to explain to you on how Fluttershy didn't get corrupt in the most recent episode, and what did you say? You said "Fail" along with some other stuff on how other forum posts point to her acting like a bully much like when Discord made her one in "Return of Harmony". But did she stay a bully? No. That means she is not corrupt. She is regular old Fluttershy yet again.

As for us not understanding you...well, I'm not sure what to say without possibly hurting your feelings. You are hurting my feelings by refusing my help and leaving slightly disrespectful comments like "your logic is invalid" when I try to give you advice on Facebook. It's obvious to me now that you don't want my help and instead want to continue the path you are going down. I of course don't understand you because your theories and whatnot are so far fetched that they are implausible. You believe them to be true because your depression is deluding you into believing they are true.

Feeling a lot better now. My Travelling Ponies and so softs has finally arrived.
