Accidentally starting up Adium can be a good thing Tongue

Also, I'm starting to teach myself iOS coding. So far one week has passed and all I've managed to do is create a barely working tabbed view >_<

That reminds me....how has Eva been doing? Has she got better since the last time we talked about her? (I will tell you this...try not to upgrade to iOS 6...it may make Eva (an iPad 1st generation) even slower.

As for iOS coding...meh. I rather learn Android coding. Tongue

Finally...take a gander at this article from MSNBC and ROTFL...

Lol do a joke app.
I started the WinXP VM on Lilly just now, and I think I need to run it more. I'm being bombarded with program updates galore!! Not to mention it's one month behind on Windows Updates too!

I started up Lilly's WinXP to try and see if I encoded a video file I ripped, but may as well start making mobile video copies of some old Golden Book Video stories so I can throw them on Herman so I have something to watch while on trips or something. They would also be good tests for Pinch V2's video playback capabilities.

Now for something different. On August 7th, Greta will be three months old. Smile And she will finally be paid off too, but then begins the long process of paying back all the credit card funds I used to get her. It's going to take months, but seeing as how Greta runs circles around Wendell and runs Webkinz perfectly, I don't mind.

But....HSN is now offering a quad-core Gateway laptop in the same color. Tongue

Here are the specs..
Code:
AMD Quad-Core A6-3420M Processor, 1.5GHz with TurboCORE Technology up to 2.4GHz
750gb Hard Drive
4gb RAM upgradeable to 8gb
AMD Radeon HD 6520G Graphics

Those are the key specs, and virtually the only differences between Greta and this particular Gateway. And despite being quad core, the processor clock speed is actually slower than Greta's when TurboCore is not used for automatic overclock to 2.4ghz. Greta is an Intel Pentium B960 at 2.2ghz with no automatic overclocking built in.

Still using her for every other thing >_< I still can't afford a "new iPad" (new ponies coming too fast!), and since rumor has it that a "new iPad 2" is coming out soon, I'm holding off for that instead.

Android is next on my list after I get this app out the door, although I consider it a non-issue since Dalvik's basically just a bunch of custom libraries built on top of Java. I've been doing Java for years.

I only write practical apps Tongue

Hmmm, the graphics on that one is actually APU-driven. Violette is actually slightly slower (1.4GHz instead of 1.5 and overclockable to only 2.3) and has the same 6520G APU part in the A6-3400M processor.
Finally got that bloody PS/2 mouse working on Mountain Lion.

What about upgrading to a USB mouse, or run your current mouse through a PS/2-to-USB converter? Can Hackintoshes even use USB mice? I switched to USB mice around the time I got Jasper, and I haven't looked back since.

I was wondering if she still runs horribly slow at times? Did any sort of factory restore through iTunes help out with the speed?

Part of the reason why I chose Herman is that my old Polaroid tablet would get horribly slow if you use her for about a month or so. Not sure why, but after adding shortcuts to the desktop and installing your apps and whatnot, a cold boot can take about three to five minutes! Herman still goes from startup logo to desktop in about 30 seconds and I have my homescreens customized and my apps installed! He still has to finish starting stuff up in the background, but at least I don't have to sit and wait for the desktop for three or five minutes.

One more thing...I'm still weary about mentioning my old Android tablet's name David. Is it alright if I do? I'm getting tired of referring to it as the Polaroid. Tongue
You can use a USB mouse on a Hackintosh, but I'd go for making legacy PS/2 functional.

Is PS/2 a better connection option than USB?

In terms of ease, both USB and PS2 are just as easy to connect, but I just think USB is a far better standard, and PS/2 is becoming somewhat outdated and if it weren't for the colors, you can get a PS/2 keyboard/mouse mixed up. Whereas with USB, simply plug the keyboard or mouse in any open USB port and you are ready to go.
cpd2009 Wrote:Is PS/2 a better connection option than USB? .
Well, I'd say some USB mice are just flakey with some OSes. For example, on Dongwa, there seems to be a problem with USB mice intermittently stop working with him when used through the KVM. Not sure what gives, it appears to be a fault with the kernel, it happens with both OpenSuSE and Ubuntu, though less frequently on the other. It doesn't happen on Mac OS X or Windows. And oh, when you're installing OSes, some of them just don't support USB mice out of the box, especially the more exotic ones (though this appears less of a problem nowadays than during the Win9x era).

That said, I always keep a PS/2 mouse connected to all of my PCs despite a USB one being hooked up through the KVM, just in case the one on the KVM decides to zone out and I need to use the mouse to reach the reboot button.
