No, stick to AVG. Avast started going down the drain two months ago, when their Antivirus started gumming up Windows XP Pro x64 machines (remember the hard disk corruptions I reported and thought was caused by the drive tray I installed? Yeah, it was actually the then-latest Avast update causing the corruption) and are causing slowdowns on Windows 7 machines (yes, I actually experienced a speedup on my Windows 7 computers (Edison, Helen and Violette) once I switched back to AVG). AVG, on the other hand, call me crazy, but the original reason I switched to Avast was because they adopted a interface that was so fancy and resource hungry that my then AthlonXP PCs became slower after they switched to their new UI. Now what it has adopted Metro, which is way lighter than the previous UI and actually make my computer feel much more responsive than when I had Avast, I'm all for it!
Microsoft has a free AV suite called Security Essentials. I am not sure how good it is since I only tried it for a little while, but it appears to use even less resources than AVG since it just focuses on AntiVirus and Spyware and has no email scanners and whatnot.

AVG may be a better option though since it does have LinkScanner and all sorts of additional security tools that MS Security Essentials does not have.

Me, personally, I use Norton Internet Security 2012. NIS is not free, and requires a yearly subscription, which may be somewhat expensive. However, NIS has been protecting Greta and Wendell very well. David had a very critical problem with Norton a long time ago. I forgot what it was, but it was enough to turn him away from Norton permanently. I had some reservations about Norton because of that, but I gave NIS 2011 a try when I purchased Wendell and gave the trial a run.

Norton is expensive, but IMO, it is worth the price, and it has not caused any critical problems with both Wendell and Greta.

If you just want a free AV suite, go for AVG.

I'd rather have that Justin Beaver banned than Erykah Badu!

How is banning Justin Beiber a good thing? I know it's just a joke, but....

I know a lot of people don't like Justin Beiber, but I do hate all the hate he gets. Sure, he is one of the top pop stars of this century, and I don't care for his music at all, but he still doesn't deserve all the hate directed towards him.

He is just appealing to the current trendy teen demographic that's all. And I am not a teen anymore, so I don't care for him or his music. I would never hate on him though.... or any pop star.

One other thing... I am glad Lilly didn't materialize as an iMac...

No one is brainwashing no one. Except North Korea. And China. And Saudi Arabia. And Malaysia. And any dictatorship. And right wing pundits.

Okay.... a lot of brainwashing goes on, mostly in repressive countries and right wing radio shacks. But Justin Beiber doesn't do that. Most teens are just rebellious and outgoing just because they usually are. No different than teens loving Britney Spears or any pop group throughout modern history. They will follow anyone that is popular.

Teens went wild when the Beatles hit the scene back in the 60s. The only difference is that I love the Beatles, but I didn't grow up in the 60s. Pop music back in the 60s is not like today. I happened to love the Oldies and 80s music during Middle School, and I was not into many of the artists popular during the 2000 to 2010 range. But I knew many people who did, and I never gave them hard times over their musical choices.

Times change, and teens will go after any music that is popular because they are being raised in this modern society. It's an ever evolving cycle. Some people who grew up in the 60s didn't like music in the 90s. And when the "Beliebers" hit middle age around 2050 or so, they probably won't like music that is popular then.

The cycle just keeps repeating itself.

Whatever floats your boat I guess. To me, the lyrics of his songs are repulsive, I've heard one while in the loo at a shopping complex of all places, and it caused instant constipation. It's just that repulsive.

Plus, the Malaysian government likes him, which I believe is good enough reason for me to hate him even more, especially since they banned Erykah Badu over a stupid little temporary tattoo on a picture that wasn't even meant to be published in Malaysia that a reporter stolen on the internet, but let said brat in.

Remember what I said... I don't like Justin Beiber's music, but I wouldn't spew hate towards him. Same goes for any music artist I don't like. I don't care if anyone else like some artist I don't care for, as long as they don't bully me as a hater.
Well, I guess I'm on the same boat as Wade now that I have one of them generic Allwinner tablets:

Rooting it is insanely easy, just run Doomlord's Xperia tool on it and just wait until the Superuser icon shows up on the app drawer.

The tab has an A13 chipset with 512MB RAM, a 1GHz processor and a Mali-400MP. I just have to root it since I want to set up Chainfire on it.

That's Rich, Blake! What was the stock firmware like? Did it come with Google Play, or some other obscure app store?

Daffodil has been doing well. She can get a bit slow at times, but she has the ability to remain in sleep mode for nearly a week before the battery conks out. Unfortunately, her battery meter gets really behind if you leave her sleeping too long and the battery can run down even if the meter says you have at least 25% left or so.

Other than that, she has been meeting all my expectations. Smile
It's fine. Only beef is that the screen is a bit fuzzy and some colours are washed out. I had to disable the audio on GTA3 just to make it run on a playable speed.
