Look what Family Dollar got in last weekend...

Portable Sega Master System and Game Gear emulator. Too bad you can only play the 30 built in games, but they are mostly good ones. No homebrews.

Styled similar to my Sega Genesis portable I got last year, but smaller, fewer buttons, and colored yellow.

Now only if Nintendo would produce a similar handheld....
oh wait, they would rather emulate the consoles on the 3DS instead of going Sega's route.

Sigh.
You know that nice 32'' RCA HDTV I got back in May from my brother, which became Anna-Lena V3?

Well, I might need to replace her soon as she is now having trouble turning on when it's cold, even if I turn the heat up in my room. The power supply is about done for methinks. And her current incarnation was so good though... 32'' picture, two component inputs....

But then again, the set is already seven years old. Perhaps it's time has come.

As of now, I have three options:

*Downgrade Anna-Lena back to V2, the 21'' iSymphony HDTV. Yes, I still have Anna-Lena's previous incarnation, now serving as Lilly's monitor. This would be the best option at the moment since this set has two HDMI inputs, analog audio output, and multisystem (NTSC/PAL/SECAM) support.

*Bring Max, my first HDTV out of retirement. Problem is, he has no HDMI input and no analog audio output... only digital coaxial output that only works with ATSC broadcasts. His internal speakers aren't really the best either.

*Buy a new HDTV during Black Friday. This would normally be the best option, but if I already have a replacement HDTV that works well, why buy yet another one? The only upside is that I can get a picture larger than 21''.

I'm already leaning towards the first option.
Happy Halloween for those who celebrate.

Thanks for the greeting Sandy! Smile I do have some interesting activities lined up tonight, such as baking my own pizza for supper, defeating Bowser in "SMW 2: Yoshi's Island" and also watching a movie too.

But, it seems to me that Halloween used to be more fun when I was younger. I actually would go out and trick-or-treat around town door to door, mostly to people we knew. These days, it seems the kids go trick-or-treating far earlier in the day instead at night, and they go to local stores, the church, and the nursing home instead of door-to-door.

It's just one source so I have no idea how reliable this article is, but since some of us are from this particular country I want to ask. Is the situation really this bad and nonsensical over there?

To be honest tho, I see some of that as a good thing. Because if that's left unchecked, the kids will become bullies. And after all I've been through, I'm strongly against bullying and support anything that will stem it.
Meet Anna-Lena Version 4.0...

She is now a Sony Bravia KDL-32XBR9. A 2009 model, but still able to handle current HD Trends.

With 4 HDMI inputs as well as two component inputs, hopefully Anna-Lena will be in this form for many years rather than hopping around yearly as it seemed. Tongue

I'm still trying to find the perfect picture settings but I'm close. I can tell right away that a name-brand HDTV is miles above a low end Chinese model.
Yeah I'd rather have a Bravia or a similar LG model instead.

It can be.

But, well, I hear that Switzerland won't let people become PR of their country. They'd let you move there to work, but the moment you retire they send you back to where you came from. I don't know why they're like that, or if there's any truth to it tho.

That's probably true. A lot of countries are like that.
Look... Sears and Kmart...

I don't mind Black Friday sales, but what you are planning to do for Thanksgiving 2013 is truly insane!

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/on/kmart-thanksgiving-day-6am-opening-black-friday/">http://www.dailyfinance.com/on/kmart-th ... ck-friday/</a><!-- m -->

The TL;DR version: Kmart is opening on Thanksgiving morning at 6am and staying open for 41 straight hours through Black Friday itself!

Black Friday should remain on Friday... not expand to include the Thanksgiving holiday itself. Give those employees a chance to spend Thanksgiving with their families and friends rather than toiling inside a likely crowded retail environment.
