Well, if I want to record SNES/NES/Genesis chiptunes, I can't use Audacity. When I try recording with either of Jasper's sound cards, he has a seizure of sorts. The screen becomes completely corrupted with rainbow lines or similar. A hard reset is needed. I even downgraded his graphics drivers to the ones that came with the graphics card, but Jasper still goes nuts.

I have tried other programs, and they actually record without crashing. I tried NCH WavePad but it lacks realtime input monitoring. Attempted Acoustica Basic, but crashes on startup. Attempted Kristal Audio Engine, but it's too confusing.

I have since settled on Wavosaur. It's not perfect, but it can save recordings in WAV format so I can transfer them to Audrey for final processing.
I wonder if Blake should renamed this "cpd2009's Spam Thread?" I seem to be the only one posting here daily. Tongue

Anyway, decided to finally dive in and start purchasing games from the pre-installed [strike]bloat[/strike] WildTangent games that came with Greta. Purchased two parts of "Blasterball 2" for $5 each, Remix and Holidays. It's a good Arkanoid clone, and I do like my Arkanoid and clone games. Wink

I also took a look at the pre-installed trial games that came with it and removed a few I would never play. One of those was a "Dora the Explorer" game. It was meh.... nowhere near the quality of edutainment classics like "Super Solvers" or "Richard Scarry's Busytown" and obviously Flash based. And it was selling for $9.99!! :!:
I'm about to face exams so I don't have much time to be here for now.

On another note, it seems I will have a partly broken family in 3 weeks.

*sigh*

Partly broken family? How?

If it's a personal issue you don't want to share, you can ignore this question.
Perhaps I'm too pessimistic, but the probable best scenario is a dark atmosphere within the family for a while.

My brother is about to make a life decision which my parents oppose, and this time he is determined to defend it to the bitter end. Well, they actually has never oppose it directly, but they have shown signs of opposition.

Sad

Well, here is hoping for the best.
Jasper is almost revived completely. Lately, I have been fiddling about with different programs and settings, trying to find the perfect match. It's a bit of a pain to get programs to Jasper since I have to use a 4gb USB drive at 1.1 speeds as his USB 2.0 card is still glitchy. I also need to get to the root of an annoying BSOD every time he goes to sleep.

There is some good news though. Ever since I removed his unused CMedia sound card, the +5V VCORE voltage is not red anymore. I also swapped out his CD-ROM drive with a DVD-ROM since the DVD-RW drive has an annoying bright blinking LED whenever the drive is accessed. The LED on the DVD-ROM is not so annoying.
At last, Jasper is finally revived, for the most part.

Blame the lack of capturing a VMR-9 surface in Print Screen >.<

Two things. For one, he will be my psuedo Media Center PC and night time music box, and secondly, he is also that classic game station I was wanting. He's not a true retro gaming box, but he will run games that will not install or launch under either Greta or Audrey. I am thinking of setting up DOSBox on Jasper for the real old stuff.

Oh, and I can at least run a game pad to the USB 2.0 PCI card without any issues. I have my Final Fantasy white game pad connected and I was playing some fun shovelware earlier. Tongue Some shovelware titles can actually be fun if they are well designed and playable.

Ultimately, I would like a gaming box that generates less fan noise. This isn't an issue at night, amazingly, but even so, it would be better to have a much quieter box for the music box and general movie viewing. Hopefully when I get that spare desktop I mentioned a few weeks back, I can switch movie and music to said box and convert Jasper to classic gaming only as he is indeed ready for that task.

Finally, after a lot of finding, I got me a normal 3DS to replace Isabelle whose hinge is going to break.

Isabelle II.

The data all transferred over fine. Even Animal Crossing New Leaf, which is supposed to be a special preinstall on the original Isabelle since she's an ACNL special edition 3DS XL, came over.

However, the other villagers were unhappy that I vanished for five months straight.

Also, this does not bode well with my wallet.

Now to locate screen protectors and safety cases. Which would be exponentially harder to find compared to 3DS XL parts.

As for the original Isabelle, I will get her repaired someday. They just need to make the parts available in Asia...
