Seriously, have you even heard of Ouendan?

Now that you mention the title, I do recall you told me about Ouendan before.

Perhaps the reason why Ouendan was never brought to the US or Europe is the touchscreen abuse you mentioned and the fear of millions more people breaking their DS screens because of this game.

Clifford's touch screen will never see abuse like Ouendan demands as I'm not into rhythm games. Wink

In other news... Greta desperately needs a RAM upgrade, but because of my town's cruddy job market, I still have yet to get a job. The Crucial RAM upgrade kit is around $80 USD for 8GB. I could go online to eBay and just get generic RAM sticks, but how long will those last?

Actually, it was brought to the west, under the title "Elite Beat Agents", but with the soundtrack replaced with English songs. It did destroy a few DS units.

And oh, the Michael Jackson DS game is a ripoff of EBA Which no doubt destroyed a few more.

No harm in trying. I have two bars of generic RAM sticks in Maxwell - long story involving a bug in Xorg for OpenBSD and how Maxwell uses integrated video...
Alright, next month, I will go ahead and acquire Greta's RAM sticks off eBay. I will consult the Crucial Memory Scan since it gives me her RAM speed and other necessary specifications, and those need to match up perfectly.

Also, David. This is a question about AC:CF, even though you don't play AC:CF anymore.

In regards to Birdwell's store, I have Nookingtons, which is only open from 8am to 9pm. I do most of my AC:CF stuff in the evening and overnight currently, and thus if I need to sell bugs and other things for Bells, I can't after 9pm.

Nook N' Go is the type of store that remains open until 1am, perfect for late night bug catching and selling. Unfortunately, if I downgrade back to Nook N Go, I will lose the furniture selection of Nookingtons, even though I rarely buy furniture there.

What was the Nook store that you had in AC:CF?

My town has a Nookingtons last I checked.

If you play overnight, I suggest setting a clock offset in AC:CF. That's what the adjust time option in the game is actually for. Nintendo actually anticipated that not everyone will be able to play during working hours, and so put in the option so you can come back from work in the evening and it will be morning in the game. Just offset the clock in the game by 12 or so hours and you will be fine.

Well, I'll skip offsetting the time. It's akin to time travel, and I would like the game clock to be in sync with real life clock if at all possible. I also won't be limited to late night visits for much longer, I hope.

Oh, and you know that Android HDMI stick Anna-Lena has? Well...

I thought I would have it output at 720p resolution (or 1280x720 60hz) to see if that would improve video performance. After switching, Anna-Lena's default zoom caused overscan, and I didn't want to use the adjustment sliders offered, so I wanted to go back to 1080p HD.

The 1080p option disappeared. Well, not really. There is a 1080p option, but for some reason, only 1080p 50hz refresh rate is displayed, and Anna-Lena only accepts 60hz. I first tried a factory reset, but that didn't work. I then decided to use the settings menu.

As I was flipping back and forth between resolutions trying to see if the 1080p option would return, I put it on 720p 50hz for some reason. Now I can't get the HDMI stick to display anything at all because without seeing the screen, I can't re-adjust the resolution back to 60hz, and neither Anna-Lena nor my parents LG recognize a 720p 50hz HDMI input, Sad I do know the device at least boots, as I get the startup Android logo before the input goes dead.

My last resort option is digging out my old iSymphony 20'' HDTV, which accepts PAL or NTSC input over analog. Hopefully being a off-brand Chinese set, the HDMI should accept 50hz input so I could at least get the stick back to a 60hz output.

If that doesn't work.... I'm going to have to buy another HDMI stick. Menards has them on sale for cheap now since they had so many left over, and I will have access to Menards again soon. And when I do get another one, I will never set it to 720p 50hz.

The strange part? If I tried to use 1080p 50hz, it would black out for about half a minute and then it would return you to the settings menu. It didn't do that with 720p 50hz. I sure hope I didn't kill the device while messing with the resolution. Sad
Yep, the Shanzai HDTV worked at 50hz, and I set the resolution to 480p for now. However, I still want 1080p output, and I will keep trying. If not, then I guess I will still have to get another stick. I know that I set the stick to 1080p 60hz when I first got it, and not sure why it's only displaying 1080p in 50hz.
Hard reset the stick and try again.

Also, look for firmware updates.

This is why I insist on having world-multi capable TVs.
Well, the stick works now, but I'm limited to 720p. Also...

By resetting the Android stick to factory defaults, it erased all the pre-installed apps. I only get basic bare bones apps now, and lost that handy YouTube app that allowed me to view videos in HD. Maybe I should get that new Android stick when I go to Menards on Wednesday.... and not mess with the resolution settings ever again.

And it would be nice to get a multisystem TV, but I would have to stick to off-brand sets for that. Anna-Lena supports PAL over Component video, but she doesn't support 50hz HDMI, which is odd. Seeing as the LG HDTV also doesn't support 50hz HDMI, that leads me to believe no major brand HDTV supports 50hz HDMI, And I'm not giving up Anna-Lena any time soon.

Which is a bit strange, since Quetzal III supports both 50Hz and 60Hz 1080p HDMI in addition to 1080p24 (HDMI film profile). Maybe it's the FCC or MPAA being anal and making as hard as possible to score a 50Hz TV in the US for whatever reason. On the other hand, this part of Asia has been a mess where TV systems are concerned because Sony, Nintendo and Sega insisted on launching NTSC consoles where historically the TV broadcast is PAL. So on one hand, our satellite, cable and IPTV boxes output PAL and 50hz HDMI. On the other hand, the android TV boxes, media players, game consoles, blu-ray, DVD players and computers output 60hz HDMI . Plus, the same TV will also be sold in The Philippines, Myanmar and Vietnam, which are also NTSC countries. So it's paramount that TVs support both.

Probably the MPAA since nearly every name brand HDMI device needs to have stupid HDCP attached to it, and it probably specifies HDMI 60hz only. The major TV makers comply with that, and they also probably don't think people care about foreign DVD releases or other things that would require a 50hz display within the USA. The USA is ATSC/NTSC 60hz, and up until recent years, there weren't that many people that required a multisystem TV. Obviously, that is changing, and TV makers need to see this and implement multisystem capability just as they do in Southeast Asia.

My parents LG set has a very similar OSD display to Quetzal III, but HDMI 50hz is no go. I get the spinning LG Cube with "No Signal". Anna-Lena is different. She will actually freeze up if you attempt to use a 50hz HDMI device. No button on the remote works besides the power button.

Once I get the new Android stick, I should be able to avoid this issue in the future. And I do plan on sticking with name brand sets, so Anna-Lena's successor will likely be another Sony set or another top tier brand like Toshiba, as long as I am able to use a PAL component input.
