What's funny is my computer was randomly shutting off too and it turned out to be my power supply that needed to be replaced as well. Heh.

Interesting. I guess your laptop's old power supply was just getting old, while the one that came with my Acer laptop was the wrong adapter entirely. The previous owners packed in an adapter that was meant for a small netbook. It's no fault of the PC store though.

Right now, I'm using the power supply that Greta came with, and later today, I will find another power supply that I have that will work with the Acer, and that way Greta can get her power supply back.

I might have asked you before, but I forget. What brand is your laptop? Greta is a Gateway, and the Acer is... Acer.

My computer was originally a Dell/Alienware, but it's been upgraded a few times, gotten a new case, new power supply.. I suppose in the end it's still a Dell, but it's most certainly not the computer I started with. It's a full desktop computer. I used to own another Dell Laptop, but I gave that to my sister for 50 dollars when I didn't need it anymore.

Honestly, I'll never buy Dell ever again. The treatment they gave me is appalling. My mom's laptop was involved in a recall, but apparently the recall is only valid in the US. Bought said laptop and now it has a burnt out NVidia GeForce7400M? Your problem if you live outside the US. Never doing business with Dell ever again- it's up there with HP on my blacklist.

Plus, they charged my sister RM4000 for a stupid little i5 with integrated graphics that one could find being sold by competing brands for a little over RM1000. Although that's her problem, she bought the laptop without consulting me, consulting her "best friends at work" instead.

On the other hand, Asus is awesome. Too bad they're not going to put out any more AMD gaming laptops...

For me, I would only buy a Dell or HP if it was used, and like the Acer I got, it has to be in good condition. It's just that I heard a lot of bad stories regarding Dell/HP customer support that make me think twice about buying anything new from them. Though, Angel, has the customer service for your Alienware PC been good in your case?

Also, David, do they sell Acer laptops in Malaysia? Acer isn't that bad IMO, at least not as bad as Dell or HP when it comes to customer service. There is also Toshiba too, but unsure if they sell Toshiba laptops in your country.

Meet my newest computer system (or, old-newest rather), Pablo.

As mentioned earlier, the OS is Windows Vista Basic. It's a step below Home Premium in a few ways, such as having a "Standard" theme. It has the glass effect and shadows, but the more advanced features of Aero are disabled such as taskbar thumbnails and actual transparency. But, it still looks nice to me and I can at least color the windows.

There was some useful software that was present on the factory install image. It included a full copy of Microsoft Works 8.0, as well as NTI Media Maker. Other programs I uninstalled were Google Desktop and Toolbar and Acer GameZone. Both programs are no longer supported, and GameZone would complain of no internet even if there was a connection. Oh, and McAfee went too.

Near bedtime for me. Before I do, though, I'm going to set up Pablo's Linux drive. I got the old 160gb external drive all ready to go. The Linux distro of choice is PCLinuxOS... 64bit.

Since Pablo won't rarely go anywhere (because his battery is long dead), he can be my Linux experimentation system too.

Never thought of making a cute desktop wallpaper with the "name" of the computer on it. I decided that at least temporarily, that would be pretty cute. I named this computer after a character from Tales of Graces, Sophie!
