I suspect it's a quirk with Asus boards. The two P2B-F I acquired from eBay does that all the time, and worse still, the clock will also reset itself. Even something as new as my aunt's P7H55-M is doing that sometimes. And worse still, it happens at random, with no rhyme or reason.

In other news...
I decided to end my little two week experiment and will switch Audrey back to media-PC status. I will also go back to my original course of acquiring a KVM switch for Jasper and Lilly, and she will remain an OSX/Windows PC. Since DVI KVMs are horrendously expensive and might have issues concerning HDCP, I need an additional MiniDP to VGA adapter.
Jasper? He will be occasionally used for running old versions of Linux and eventually Windows 98SE. MandrakeLinux 9.1.4 is wonderful even though my copy is very outdated and can't really run things from the internet anymore.

Would I have to use some sort of USB splitter cable, or should one be included? I do have a USB splitter cable on hand if my KVM doesn't come with one itself.

The cable merges both the keyboard and mouse into a single line. The KVM will have two USB ports- one for keyboard and another for mouse. It then uses a built-in hub chip to merge both devices into a single line and run it through a single USB cable, which is much cleaner that way.
However, the device you linked me seems to have only one port- meaning you will need to connect a USB hub to the KVM for switching mouse and keyboard.

I hope this comes out far better than it sounds, but it appears Mozilla wants a walled garden for it's browser extensions. I know RMS won't be happy.
The answer is simple: Fork it. Although the fact that you can still install third party certificates and then install the signed extension does mitigate things.

There is a fork of Firefox called Pale Moon, and seeing as it's compatible with nearly all Firefox add-ons, it might gain a lot of new users. I tried it for a bit, but not long enough to gauge a proper opinion yet. It's apparently built specifically for 64bit processors and modern technologies.
I don't think there is a Seamonkey equivalent to Pale Moon, and I'm not sure if Seamonkey would be affected by the extension signing since they are a community driven project.

It's definitely against the tenets of the open-source movement, and yes, Stallman would definitely be pissed at the DRM-ization of what we know as a high-profile OSS project.

I really need to stop changing my computer setup so often and learn to stick with plans. I blame Linux for my recent episode, though not in a bad way.
In related news, I had to downgrade monitors again, back to the Gateway FPD1730. The Nvidia RIVA TNT2 card can't output 1600x900 or detect the HP S2031 properly. 1280x1024 will will have to do.
Some more random babbling from me.
First up, MandrakeLinux 9.1.4 really doesn't know how to handle removable USB drives since being so old. I literally have to reboot Jasper every time I connect a new flash drive as well as canceling out DiskDrake at boot each time. Not sure if there ever was an update to this particular Linux OS. I could just go for a newer Linux OS, but I may as well use my very first Linux discs I ever acquired.
Also, Jasper really hates his USB 2.0 card even under Linux. Here's the problem... when using a flash drive, it will appear to work fine for transferring around 25% of files to disk, but it stops and Linux or Windows bring up device errors. The LED light on the drive also starts flashing extremely fast, like it's an error code. I can't ever figure out why this keeps happening. The original USB 2.0 PCI card exhibited the same problem. Old card had an NEC controller, while the newer card has a VIA controller. So, to get files on to Jasper, I must resort to rewritable DVDs. I have no crossover cable at hand.
Finally, Lenovo gives me a reason to investigate bloatware thoroughly if I need to buy a new laptop someday....
(I would probably just make a Windows recovery drive and install Linux though)
