Just to confirm. You were talking about the real life counterpart to Pomegranate Parfait, right? Can't believe that she really has such likeness to the character.

On a serious note, and this is just my opinion, I'd actually prefer her to be taught on personality. For example, teach her about how good it is to be a nice person to friends and families, teach her the wonders of responsibility and other good qualities of a person. Academic skills gets easier to learn as she grows, but personality gets much harder to change. If I someday (and somehow) become a father, I'd prefer my child to be a good friend to have around other kids rather than a smart but rude one. Sadly over here mothers are obsessed on making their child as smart as possible in stressful ways just to show off to other mothers.
Well, in a few days, I will embark on the biggest vacation of my life.

Where will it be? I won't reveal that until we arrive, but it's going to be quite a journey. We are going by car.

I will still have internet access, but I may be limited in connectivity, due to vacation things and just to get away from the net for a while and relax. Stay tuned. Smile
Yes, Sandy, the real life Pomegranate Parfait. I laugh about a lot of situations looking back over the day, and often just want to live another day while in the actual annoying moments.

I think you're right about kindness versus academia, although I also think being kind to people trying to teach her is part of kindness. There is a cultural desire for young children to be smart in my country, too, and my country has this weird belief that kids will be lost if you don't focus on this before regular school age. I feel like my niece's parents are making the opposite mistake, in an odd way.

My niece thinks manners and flattery are the same thing. She thinks repeatedly telling me I'm beautiful means she doesn't have to listen to me or follow any rules, for example. That actually sounds like a combination of her parents' tactics, used by a four year old. It doesn't work on her aunt or uncle. It works on her parents.

Anyway, yesterday she counted to 10 unprompted! Go figure!

A won battle isn't a won war. And as she'll be showered with presents while I get no reward, I'm not sure I won.

How do you have someone want to be kind?

I think she needs a little sibling of her own, to protect and see as part of her team. Her cousins unite against her, due to her attitude. My brother says one child is enough, so her own Grapes almost certainly isn't happening.
I spent all day trying to save a large goldfish someone tossed onto the road. In addition to being tossed and bruised and left for dead, a cat ate parts of him.

I kept him alive twelve hours, with medicine, a tank, everything. To quote the current Orange Blossom, "I've given him everything a fish could want! Everything a fish could need! No fish has ever been so loved and cared for!"

He didn't make it. My family is heartbroken.

I know I kept him alive longer than anyone thought possible.

But I really thought he would survive.

At least he passed in water, with people who loved him.
My niece was very sweet to the fish, by the way.

Indeed. It's far better than passing on the side of a random road, and the fish knows it got true love and care in his final moments.

Anyway, it seems to be pretty quiet here lately. Can't be helped on my side, though. Quite busy and I only could manage quick lurks.
Apologies if I have been quiet for the past week or so, but I was enjoying my week long road trip away from home. I returned last night, and before I did, I was able to get to Best Buy for some much needed PC upgrades.

I scored a 1TB hard drive for Ruby along with brand new versions of media software, namely Magix Movie Edit Pro and Music Maker/Studio twin pack, and Corel Paint Shop Pro X7 Ultimate. They all come on disc, and are far more affordable than an Adobe CS upgrade. They might not be on the same level as Adobe but Paint Shop Pro is considered a competitor to Photoshop. There is a side effect to this. I'll have to upgrade Ruby to a more recent Windows version for 64bit support. Luckily, my copy of Windows 8.1 is sitting unused at the moment and I'll just use that despite Metro UI being 'meh' to my eyes.

Also, for Patsy, I got a PNY GeForce GT 730 with 2gb DDR3 VRAM. I believe there is a GDDR4 730, but Best Buy didn't have it, and for my multimedia tasks, DDR3 VRAM should be good enough. I also got a 400W Insignia PSU, but I may keep that if I plan to resurrect Audrey somehow.

Oh, I also finally got a Wii U as well along with Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric and NES Remix. I know Sonic Boom gets very low scores all around, but I want to try it for myself, buggy as it may be.
I'm a Girl Scout troop leader now.

Congratulations! Were you involved in Girl Scouts before becoming a troop leader?
