Happy Birthday Wendell!!

March 17th was his one year birthday....and he has served me well. I hope he continues to do so for several more years to come.
I still have to spend an entire day with him (as in, using him for my daily computing instead of Lilly), but that will start tonight. I still don't have an idea on what games I will play....perhaps a bit of "Super Collapse II" and "NeoPets: Codestone Quest".
I haven't had the ability to buy Wendell anything fancy for his birthday, so he just got another wireless mouse since I misplaced the tiny receiver of his normal one. It was Lilly's but the scroll wheel is getting a little glitchy. Lilly got a wired USB optical mouse as a replacement. No more batteries!
As for Chrysanthemum....I believe she may be too far gone to be useful. Her GPU issue has worsened a lot since I last used her (a couple months back) making Windows 8 Consumer Preview nearly unusable with the proper graphics drivers loaded. Constant BSODs and colored dots everywhere.
It's sad because if she didn't develop the GPU issue, she would still be in active service today. To me, continuing to use an older computer system has a charm, especially if it can do what a brand new cutting-edge system can do. Even if it doesn't, you can still do basic tasks on one and find workarounds for issues that do pop up.
That is what I plan on doing with Wendell....Im going to hang on to him until he simply can't serve me a day longer. I will not ever sit him on a bed like I stupidly did with Chrysanthemum. (that was back in 2006-2007 before she even got her name, and I believe that is one factor in her GPU becoming unstable) I plan on taking very good care of him to ensure his longevity.
Will he eventually be upgraded to Windows 8? Perhaps, but if I find out that I don't like Metro in Win8, he is sticking with Win7.
Well, that's all for me now.
I typed this on Wendell.
(and yes, my desk really needs a good dusting in the corners and whatnot. We have a VERY dusty house)
