Because my Viewsonic VA905 formed some dead pixels on the screen. Not sure if it can be repaired.
Can't use a AL1716W I had because apparently ATI Rage Pro and S3 Savage3D cards can't handle widescreen resolutions :/
The Viewsonic has dead pixels? How many?
I probably wouldn't replace a monitor myself if it formed dead pixels. If Greta or Wendell ever get them, I may just have to deal with it. If the dead pixels became too numerous though...such as over 10, then it may warrant replacement, but just a few? I think I can live with it.
The only LCD that I have owned that had dead pixels was my first portable DVD player. It just had one bright dead pixel, but it didn't affect viewing of movies that much.
EDIT: Isn't it possible to fix the dead pixels with these perhaps?
