Using a USB flash drive to transfer my video stockpile on Lilly to my portable hard disk.... something that I have been wanting to do for a long while. However, my flash drive has VERY slow write speeds. The copying speed from the flash drive to the portable hard disk is faster.
Too bad Lilly can't write to NTFS formatted disks. She can view the contents of the so-called "Smart Drive" though. There is NTFS-3G support for OSX, as well as a commercial package called "Tuxera NTFS". But I am nearly done copying all the videos over.
After this, I need to take a look at an old 80gb hard drive that is in our old family computer upstairs. My sister was the last to use it, but she got a new laptop thanks to me. I just need to get her stuff off it, and format the drive.
But transferring drives to my "Smart Drive" enclosure takes about 10 minutes since you have to unscrew the enclosure, remove the old drive and insert the new drive.
What will I do with the new drive? I may resurrect Jasper.... maybe.

Apple has done it again....

Though it appears to be just an additional model to the current iPad line with just 128gb of inbuilt storage. Nothing about any new features that the other iPads don't have. Apparently this was done to better compete with the Microsoft Surface Pro.
At first, I thought Apple came out with yet a newer model iPad with new features not found on the current generation.
However, Apple needs to watch it. I won't be afraid to turn Lilly into a Windows PC if Apple introduces a new iPad within the next six months.
It's not bad with desktop OSX yet, but Lion and Mountain Lion were released within a year of each other, and some well advertised features of ML weren't available with Macs that are a little over two years old.
I was also running into rather serious performance issues with Mountain Lion. It works fine most of the time, but not when you wake Lilly up. Some things like Safari take ages to load up when in Sleep Mode, or after running Parallels Desktop. (Parallels takes up a lot of RAM, but Lilly has 8gb!)
Thus, I am currently backing up scores of files so I can install a clean copy of Mountain Lion. For all future upgrades, I will do a normal upgrade first, and then do a reinstall of said new upgrade later on using the recovery partition. I found out that the recovery partition on the primary disk is always synced with your current version of OSX.

Chinese New Year ETA in 10 days.
And Clementine just clonked out again. This time it's confirmed that the motherboard has bit the dust - one of the RAM slots have went bad.
I swear, one of the bronies have cursed me >.<
Time to look for a replacement board...
