The Spam Thread!
I am a bit late to the Wii U party, mainly because it was released not long after I acquired Elsie, my original Wii console. But, the time has come to upgrade and while on vacation in Everett Washington, I got it!

Say hello to Wilf, my new Wii U system. The name comes from the dog named Wilf, from an obscure British kids cartoon called "Wilf, the Witch's Dog". I chose the name since at the time I reserved it, the Wii U gamepad seemed like magic to me. Tongue Now, it feels more like a gimmick than anything else, but there is nothing else like a Wii U gamepad. Well, there is Sony's method of controlling a PS4 with a Vita, but I digress...

So far, the only game I played is Zen Pinball 2, a wonderful eShop pinball simulator. The HD graphics are superb. I intend on giving NintendoLand a spin soon. I also want to play Super Mario 3D World, but I haven't played Super Mario 3D Land for 3DS. I also been getting through Yoshi's Island for SNES, so it will be a while before I can get to 3D World.

In my case, it'll take eons for such firmwares to update, given the connections here being a pain in the rear.

First impressions of the Wii-U gamepad.

It's.... interesting. So far, I have tried out the Wii U menus and NintendoLand. The gamepad shows it's strengths with NintendoLand as it's nothing more than a tech demo despite also being a good game. The two minigames I tried, Battle Quest (Zelda) and Yoshi's Fruit Cart show off what the gamepad can do and how it can be an integral part of the gameplay experience. The tablet control scheme works well for NintendoLand.

As for other applications I tried, the gamepad only serves a secondary function to the main TV screen. With Zen Pinball 2/Star Wars Pinball, you only get more detailed score progress and alternate camera views. It's a bit cumbersome to try and look at the details on the gamepad while also trying to keep an eye on your active game of pinball on the TV screen. One eShop game called Chubbins doesn't even use the gamepad... it just flashes a message "Look at the TV" and nothing more. :/

After trying out the legendary Wii U gamepad, it doesn't feel gimmicky if the developer utilizes it right, such as with NintendoLand. For Zen Pinball/Star Wars Pinball, it's rather clunky to use and it's nearly impossible to keep track of the detailed info the gamepad tries to give you as pinball is a fast paced game that requires quick reflexes and utmost attention.

At the end of the day, most gamers want to play games with a standard controller and not wanting to worry about a possibly clunky tablet-like controller thing. I can appreciate the gamepad if it's done right, but even so, Nintendo should have made the gamepad optional and packed in the Pro Controller instead.

The drive back home from campus today was terrifying. I was quite exhausted from today's activities and I kinda lack sleep lately, so I repeatedly almost fell asleep on the wheel, in a highway. Thank God I made it home safely.

How bad is the traffic down there on a normal day? We encountered heavy traffic near Spokane Washington, and endured a traffic jam during Seattle rush hour.

Congested to a crawl everyday after six am, and again after five pm. I went home at 3 so the traffic was still good enough.

Traffic jams are a recurring problem in Manila, and I'm afraid it'll continue to do so given how woefully messed up things are there.

Welp... I just made a large investment on my Wii U and various games and accessories. If this is true....

At least The Wii U waited almost two years after I got Elsie, my original Wii. Based on an opinion video from ReviewTechUSA, I feel Nintendo is trying to pull a Sega if this rumor ends up being fact :/

Nope, no involvement with Girl Scouts prior. I was "too bad" to join as a girl, and the first person everyone asked for to lead locally as an adult. Heh.
