We went on a road trip this past weekend, and I was looking over some tablets at Walmart. I have been wanting a suitable replacement for Hazel and I tried at least two other tablets, but I realize I won't find that with low-end $100 tablets. I had to step up, and Walmart had what I wanted.... the RCA Maven Pro 11.6'' tablet.
The tablet has a quad core MTK8127 CPU, 32gb storage and 1gb RAM. OS is a near-vanilla Android 5.0 Lollipop with no custom UI attached. Bloatware is limited to pre-installed Google Apps, WPS Office, Opera browser and a few others unlike Hazel who ended up being plagued with loads of Samsung apps I never used.
Hazel was a great tablet, but she is starting to show her age in regards to newer apps like Sonic Dash and even Angry Birds. Thus, the upgrade was necessary. Below are the tablets AnTuTu scores:
In the end, I could have used the money to get a Windows 8.1 tablet, which was also around the same price range. But I already have lots of apps attached to my Google Play account and I find the Windows Store to be lackluster. There isn't even an official YouTube app for Win8.1!
In other news, I also got yet another Android device.... a Tracfone pre-paid Samsung Galaxy Centura. I just have to activate it, but I have to wait til tomorrow after I receive an important phone call.
I love foxes, especially the one in my avatar.
