You wrote this on January 3rd, your time. There is no way you can determine how a year is going to be by two and a half days.

Wade, thank you for remembering and appreciating a corny joke I made that I had forgotten.

You're welcome. Smile

Well, I got several new games Virtual Console games for Elsie, namely
*Super Mario 64
*Mega Man games one through five. (I would have got six too but it wasn't there Sad )
*Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
*Detana!! Twinbee

I know that acquiring the actual Mega Man NES cartridges will be very costly, especially since there is six of them, so I decided just to get them from the Wii Shop. As for Mario RPG, it has issues running in after-market SNES clones (namely, a certain ROM revision will not boot on unlicensed clones, and it's hard to tell what actual cartridge has said ROM revision, and I'm not going to spend $30 on a SMRPG cart that will end up not running on my Retron3). Thus, another Wii Shop VC download for Elsie.

And, my actual N64 is starting to act up, thus the reason why I got SM64. Tongue I have to get used to the Classic Controller setup for N64 games now.

I actually started to play through Super Mario RPG. I played through it before, about ten years ago. At that time, I didn't know what the "RPG" meant, and I played through it thinking that it was a good, if somewhat different, Mario game. Now that I know what RPG means, and the mechanics of an RPG (hit points, attack points, etc), Im now playing through it again.

I'm half tempted to go through this thread and see how many times you've posted that.

I decided to install Linux to Wendell's hard drive since running Linux from a USB drive is extremely slow, and I have a SanDisk Cruzer!!

The initial install went well, and so did initial boot. I used Kubuntu, and after shutting off the fancy window effects, it was extremely responsive, faster than Windows!!

So I do what I usually do after a Linux install....run updates. I followed what the package manager told me, and I started the updates. They download and start installing....but after awhile, it hangs at "Running dpkg". I left it running while I was sleeping (6 to 8 hours) to see if it would progress any further, but after I woke up, it was still sitting there.

So I decide to reboot, and now, Kubuntu locks up completely at the login screen. Sad

Alright. I decide to reinstall Kubuntu from the CD-ROM. Now that is not working either. Complete freeze even before the login screen is displayed!

I then run Memtest86+ to test the RAM, and the RAM is okay.

Im going to try and boot back into Windows. I should be able to.

I think it has something to do with the ACPI. If the display freezes or goes corrupt you should try to disable ACPI on boot using the 'buntu boot settings.
