The Spam Thread!
It seems residents near Lake Ontario are fine, but possibly without electricity. I can only pray and hope.

I stand corrected. The nearest other city in New York that is near Lake Ontario, Rochester, is a whopping 403 kilometers from NYC. So I think she's really fine.

It's odd that she's without power tho. I thought the power in New York comes from the Niagara Falls, which is, well, at Lake Ontario.

403 KM is like getting from one coast of Malaysia to another. I.e. From Klang to Kuantan.

Your namesake storm never affected me beyond heavy winds and rainfall, Sandy! We didn't even lose power! New York City itself was hit hard, but we've been living between the lake and Rochester since July!

All of this is correct, and I'm closer to Canada than 403 KM from New York City.

Great to hear you are alright, Grapes!

But aren't you getting snowfall? There is snow on the other side of Sandy.

In other news, Happy Halloween!

Sandy, I did think that it would a horrible irony for your namesake storm to kill me. I didn't mention it because I didn't want to worry you, and found out afterwards you were already worried.

No snow, either. I'm not somewhere that got snow. Halloween was great!

Time to go gigabit!

Sure, Malaysian internets still suck with the file-sharing and P2P blockage, and the maximum speed available to the public is only 30Mbps unless you're one of the few lucky bastards who live at the high-class areas who're willing to shell out RM800 a month for 100Mbps internet, but hey, at least the time it takes for sending files from one PC to another is reduced!

I thought 30mbps was blazing fast as it is? It certainly is compared to our 6mbps internet (yet with that, HD videos still download fine without stuttering...if our modem isn't acting up that is).

In fact, I'm not sure if our internet is 6mbps....they may have upgraded us automatically to 15mbps. Who knows?

HSN had this particular tablet on display recently, the Leader i10-LE...a 9.7 inch Android 4.0 ICS tablet with 1024x768 resolution. This tablet is almost the size of a regular sized iPad and has similar specs to Herman and Fluttershy. But three different things killed the deal....

1: The very poor reviews that the tablet is already getting. Apparently the tablet has WiFi issues, and other build quality issues.

2: Battery life is approximately 6 hours of regular non intensive use...about the same as Herman and Fluttershy.

3: Limited video and audio support. Herman and Fluttershy are Rockchip based tablets, and they can play nearly every video file that you throw at them without conversion. The Leader tablet only supports MPEG4, h.263 and h.264 video and MP3 and AAC audio files.
