I was unable to access the forums for two days.

Portal 2 is very popular lately. While I don't play video games, I heard so much about it and today someone talked me into watching her finish the game. Wheatley, good heavens, is very much like a slightly less assertive version of Ben. I went and hugged Ben as soon as possible after seeing the game's ending.

Not planning to buy Portal 2 just yet. The PSN is still down. If I get the PS3 version, they'll throw in the PC version for free. But if I buy the XBox version, they won't give me a free copy of the PC version Sad

I'd rather buy "Earthbound", "Xardion", "Donkey Kong Counry" 2 and 3, and "Mr. Nutz" over Portal 2 any day.

And all of those games are old school Super NES games. I'm trying to catch up on the games I missed out on as a child. Tongue

I'll just pass on them. I got the first Portal for free. From the Steam giveaway for Portal's second anniversary-and-sequel-beta-unveiling. And it was just as witty and mentally-stimulating as people say it is. Although the downside is that for some reason, I've been unable to play FPS games, SHMUPs or Puzzles alike, without getting motion sickness after half an hour since leaving college. May have something to do with the screen size tho- I now have a generous 23 inch widescreen Full-HD display. Back then the largest screen I had access to was 19 inches, 4:3 ratio, at 1024x768.

Wha? You're going to pass on Donkey Kong Country? One of the best platforming games ever made besides Mario?

Today, my first Japanese import game arrived in the mail. "Xardion" for the Super Famicom. I was going to get the US version, but since the Retron3 is able to play SFC games out of the box (no plastic lockout tabs in the SNES slot), I figured I buy the SFC version to test it out. It works great, but the contacts on the cartridge need to be cleaned.

Here is what I find interesting about the SFC "Xardion"....it has the most convenient save feature I have ever seen. Typically, you would access save game files from a menu in other SNES/SFC games, but with "Xardion", if you get to level two, and turn off the console for awhile, you resume from the beginning of level two as soon as you turn the console back on. No title screen or nothing...it just goes to the map screen showing your progress and you start from level two. To start from the beginning of the game, you just hold the "Select" button as you turn the console on.

EDIT: Turns out, when the map screen appears, you can select any level up to the one where the game last saved. Smile

EDIT 2: Found a game breaking bug. If you press all four directions on the D-Pad and try to jump with the B button, the game will crash. Pressing all four D-Pad directions isn't possible with an official SNES controller, but is with after-market third party controllers.
