The Spam Thread!
Another upgrade is coming for Jasper....swapping out his current Intel Ethernet card for a Wireless-N WiFi card. Already placed an order from a eBay seller, and now it just needs to ship out.

Before long, I may upgrade his video card to a Radeon 9800 as well, but that is a low priority option now. I need to start saving up money for our next Summer vacation in the Black Hills, hopefully happening in July if everything goes right. My new Wii (to be named Elsie), and Wendell's laptop bag and maybe a RetroMini-X (portable NES) will be purchased during this trip.

Prudie was here last Saturday, but I wonder why when I look at her profile her last visit is listed as May 8th.

Anyway, someone on Youtube messaged me this:

182supermario Wrote:I got a question for you, do you have devaintart or Strawberryland Form account?, cause if you do, I have The Truth About the Children of the Sweet World of "Strawberry Shortcake", and I hope you share it Oom@Devaintart.com OK here goes, the truth is... everyone is just born smart, that's right, when the child is born it learns quickly but not to quickly, then as time goes by it grows and learns how to walk & talk on it's own, that's why Apple Dumpling acts that way, and when they each there preteen years, they move out and get their own home sense their reasonable brains are good enough, and sometimes their families can leave a little sibling to live and be taken care of till it's old enough to move out, and the same rules goes for 16 year olds to drive cars, get jobs, etc..., and Pie Man, Sour Grapes, & Licorice Whip are senors cause of their ugly looks, so yeah, I'm telling you this cause I just want you to tell "Blackberry Bun" this to put it on it his form, and can you also tell that can he do baby characters of Peppermint Fizz, Lemon Maranage, Grapes childrien (without Grapes or his husband in the picture), & a few other characters, and strawberry as a beautiful, and I, mean, beautiful, women, so if you do have an account or knows someone who has a account, can you tell him all about this, please?, thanks.

I wonder if he really don't know that he was actually messaging directly to "00m" and "Blackberry Bun" instead of asking "someone else" to relay the message. =P

Anyway, I've replied and told the truth. I don't want to make fun of someone else.

Three things, Sandy:

1. At least your fail-safe is actually safe. Mine was You-Know-Who. (Now it's being a stay-at-home mom, of course, and working on the outside is now on option and not a necessity.)

2. I have no idea about my profile!

3. What on earth was that Youtube guy asking? That was the most rambling thing... And the youngest seniors are in their mid-sixties, which is an older age than the three adults he mentioned seem to be.

~

"... cause of their ugly looks" Well, oddly enough, I visited my father in a nursing home this weekend. He is in his eighties. He has been falling down too much, which frankly was always a habit of his. Now that his body has weakened from old age, he needs to be somewhere where he can be more supported. That said, that is the only reason he is in a nursing home. He is the most sane patient there! His roommate is so forgetful and talks in loops about the same things, the man down the hall who kept coming in my father's room and crying is worse off than my father's roommate, and most of the patients are even more worse off. Most are very depressed. My father is the only patient trusted by the staff to not wheelchair outside of the building and get himself killed.

I feel sorry for my father! He has no one to talk to, no one other than employees who are busy. Yes, this is the man who abandoned me. He's still my father and he was never quite as frightening as my mother. I visited my mother when she was in a nursing home (where she lived her last days, and where she died due to violent strokes and a form of dementia), so I can certainly visit my father. He seems to have mellowed with realization of time running out. Whereas my mother angrily screamed at everyone when in such a place, my father seems almost like a normal nice guy who only wants to have conversations.

As I said, I feel sorry for my father. In the past few days, I have been crying about elderly people deteriorating. Working in a nursing home would be such a terrible job. It's the opposite of my purpose. Children are full of potential to grow better. The elderly will only grow worse and die, something the nursing home staff realize when they form friendships with their patients. It's so sad. My father is probably going to witness years of that before it happens to himself.

James reminded me that my father has not been regularly socializing with anyone for years, that this is actually an improvement for my dad as far as socializing goes. James is right. Still, how sad. I hope I never end up in a place like that. Of course, it is eerie to think that building the log cabin is building my final abode I'll be alive in.

Well, one of Jasper's hard drives is dying on me, but it isn't the main disk with all my data on it. (whew). I had to remove the failing drive this evening, as well as revert back to my old CMedia sound card, because the Audigy doesn't have hardware acceleration, and whenever you play audio, it eats the CPU like mad. Granted, the CMedia also uses the CPU for audio processing, but it's nowhere near as bad as the Audigy.

Now Im on the lookout for a sound card that has hardware acceleration, like a SoundBlaster Live 5.1 that has an EMU10K1S processor.

And, Im also going to resurrect Hazel, my previous computer, and possibly use her for a full time Linux box.

I think Im slowly becoming like RAMChYLD, and in about three years, I may also have an army of computers at my disposal.

Practicing Piano

Moi: "Why do you play only parts of songs and switch while playing them?"

Ben: "Because I am... thinking of what I want to play as I go along. Mostly, I play by ear. I'm just relieved I can count in my head instead of using a metronome, because that thing is so annoying I would have thrown it on the ground!"

I have to say, I am getting annoyed. Ah well.

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the - hark how the bells, sweet silver bells, all seem to say - freude, schoener Goetterfunken, tochter aus Elysium, wir betreten feuertrunken Himmlische, dein heiligtum; dein zauber binden wieder was der mode schwert geteilt - on the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me a partridge in a pear tree! On the second day of Christmas, my true love gave to me - hark how the bells, sweet silver bells - happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you!

Imagine a few hours of piano music like that, spread throughout the day. (Granted, I usually don't hear every time he practices.)
