Looks like someone's on a crusade to destroy Android's rep >.>
Here in the USA, Many Android phone users get their devices from the major carriers, and thus they are brands like LG, Motorola, or Samsung. Cheap no-name phones are very uncommon as a result. Same can't be said for Android tablets. While there are big names like Toshiba and Samsung, discount retailers tend to sell off-brand tablets from names like Polaroid, Mach Speed, and eMatic.

I wonder if such a malware spree may eventually hit the USA. This past Black Friday a few stores that normally don't sell electronics featured cheap no-name Android tablets for bargain basement prices. Said tablets weren't even from the off-brands mentioned above. They appeared to be literal no-names.

Who knows of any of those tablets have pre-installed malware just like those mobile phones sold in Southeast Asia? A couple of those tabs appeared to be direct Chinese imports. If any of those cheap tablets have malware, it would hurt Android's reputation, and it would hurt the reputation of the stores that sold them.

Agreed.

It's something Stef and his buddies at Techknow are addressing, although they scaled back on supporting Android devices due to lack of funds.

This configuration is guaranteed to make the keyboard feel as Mac-like as possible. Just by swapping the Command and Option keys.

Kiki is currently on a PC keyboard- a logitech K260 cordless desktop set.

In my case I configured my OS X keys so that Command is bound to Ctrl and Control is Alt, that way anyone else who happens to use my PC while booted to OS X wouldn't be confused.

I will take note of this, since Audrey's keyboard and mouse will be used for Lilly as well. Thanks for the tip! Smile

And now... lately, I realized that many of the pictures I have been posting here weren't optimized for slower connections. Some of those images were nearly 1mb in size each. So, now I take the time to use Photoshop to resize and compress the images to a fraction of what they were before. Now my pictures should load without much issue on slow connections, and I apologize for not realizing this earlier.

On that note, I present my collection of TV remotes for my entertainment center, each one marked with who they go to. How many remotes do you guys have?

And yes, I have tried universal remotes in the past, but with past experience, I realized that the affordable units only control the basic functions of several devices, like changing channels or volume. If I needed to change Anna Lena's picture options, I would likely have to get out her original remote anyway. Ditto for my Dish DVR. So far, the replacement remote I had to get for Nanouk is one of the few that can actually access his setup menus. Perhaps that remote could work with Anna-Lena as well if I wasn't too lazy to actually try it. Tongue

I'm a type of person who watches movies to the very end, credits included. Because such trait is very uncommon here, I almost always end up sitting alone in the theater room while the cleaning crews do their duties.

Just at this one occassion, they decided to shut down the machine about halfway through the credits. I got upset and scolded the crew there, saying that I paid for the ticket and I have the right to watch to the very end.

In the end, I got to watch the entire credits, but seeing them having to fire up the machine again just for me, I feel like I'm a bad person.

Am I in the wrong for what I have done?

I don't think you were in the wrong, and you are definitely not a bad person.

However, I would have been too shy to do what you did.

That is very generous of you. Smile Even though that family is poor, I do wish them and you a Merry Christmas! Smile
