RAMChYLD Wrote:KDE is a memory hog. Consider using LXDE for Jasper.
I probably will. Trinity uses nearly 90% of Jasper's ram when idle. I could just upgrade his RAM back to 1.3GB, but Win98 won't boot with that much RAM. I might go for Lubuntu, an Ubuntu spin with LXDE/LXQt as default.

I could even go for something even lighter like WindowMaker or IceWM. Tongue

Oh, when I install, I shall use GParted to create a 40gb FAT32 partition and use the rest for Lubuntu. Win98 doesn't support drives above 137GB.

Three Linux game recommendations...

SuperTux... a cool arctic themed SMB clone with Tux as the hero.

BlobWars... a cute, violent, yet simple platform/puzzle game where you control a yellow blob fighting alien blobs and robots while rescuing MIA blobs. For those who don't like blood or have kids, you can turn the blood off if you want.

Briquolo... a 3D OpenGL breakout clone. 'Nuff said. Wink

Worst update ever.

Had to pretty much wipe my cellphone just so the update could install without a hitch.

Good thing my address book is backed up into [strike]outhouse[/strike] Outlook

Welp, the update also broke power bank support. Smooth, RIM.

Yeah, I bought a power bank a few days ago- a XiaoMi 10400 mAh one. I went on a day trip only to realize that I forgot to plug my phone in to charge the night before. So I bought it when I found it going for cheap at my destination. It worked fine while I was still running QNX/BlackBerry OS 10.2.1. Then the 10.3.1 upgrade came, went through hell installing it, lack of sleep, etc. Only to find out after I've managed to get everything solved that power bank support is horribly broken in 10.3.1 >.>

Adding salt to the wound: After all the adjusting without the phone plugged in, when I went out this evening I only have 40% and charging wasn't possible >.>

At least Android apps are smoother now, since the runtime has been brought up to 4.3 and given multi-core support. But yeah, nice piece of RM50 paperweight.

Let me guess... your BlackBerry has a proprietary connector that is picky with certain hardware connected to it? I would think a power bank would just act as a simple charger, and should work regardless of OS version.

Nope, it used a standard 4-Pin MicroUSB port. I suppose it detected that the data line is shorted to data return (something needed on the power bank to coax an iDevice to charge- Apple pulls off BS like that so you can't just use any charger- not that it helped them of course, it was quickly reverse-engineered) and somehow decided that it's connected to a computer and decides to go into sync mode instead. In 10.2 it doesn't behaves like that- it just charges if it detects the short. In 10.3, for some reason, if it detects the short it decides that it has been connected to a PC and goes into sync mode instead. Some folks who have made special charging cables (ie cut off the data contacts) reported that their BlackBerries still work with power banks without issues (apparently this is not the first time- some older devices also had this issue in the past).
