Usually I'm the one helping solve problems, but I need to ask any Firefox users here if they encountered this issue I am describing...

If I browse with Firefox for 45 minutes to over an hour, any new tabs opened will become very glitchy, either not displaying pages correctly or becoming completely black. You can still hover over the page and see the cursor change to indicate links, but the pages are black or flickering to black. I have seen this happen with Greta, Ruby, and that new Vostro 220. Greta and the Vostro have Nvidia cards (GeForce 610m and GeForce 210 respectively) while Ruby has the Radeon HD5450.

I don't think this is a hardware issue but rather a bug with Firefox GPU rendering. Have any Firefox users here encountered a similar issue like I described above?

Well, not really. I've used Firefox/Seamonkey for hours and have no issues with it. Then again I tend to close all windows and restart from time to time. I did encounter that issue in Windows 10, but as it turned out, creating a specific profile for Firefox and disabling SLI fixes it.

Is it possible that you have a site with Flash opened in one of the tabs? Flash has a known issue in Firefox where it can cause major performance issues and memory leaks. The graphical corruption could be another Flash issue.

Well, I'm not sure. The Vostro 220 only has the ActiveX Flash plugin at the moment. No Firefox plugin installed yet. Only correlation I can think of is viewing HTML5 video on YouTube for a while. I checked the Nvidia Control Panel, and there is already a program profile for Firefox under "Manage 3D Settings" but I'm not sure if it's the specific profile you are referring to.

I guess I should Google for more information on this. I'm certain I'm not the only Firefox user who has encountered this issue.

I have pneumonia, among other illnesses. I've been having a rough time.

My last well day was my little boy's birthday. I do not think I will recover in time for Mango and Persimmons' birthday. The "triplets" share their birthday, anyway. Sad

They're turning (and one has turned) six. Time flies. That's still too young for their mommy to be this sick on their birthday.

Sad Pneumonia is no fun. I never had it myself, but I have had relatives who caught it. It really drains all energy from you. I hope you can get better soon. We miss you here.

So I go ahead and order a few things from Amazon. All fine and dandy right?

Well, possibly not. I didn't check my shipping address settings and now, my packages are heading towards a non-existant mailbox at my street address.

Time to call the local post office in the morning and let them know about this.

Surprisingly, quite stable. Yes, there are glitches- I've filed 7 bug reports to date, but almost all of them are caused by the fact that there's no real drivers for almost all the devices on this computer. Every driver I have installed at the moment is either Win8.1 or Win7. The only application-related issue I have is Quicktime not wanting to install, but it turns out that Apple is blocking Quicktime 7.7.7 from installing on anything not Vista or Win 7 (it won't install on my laptop either), but I was able to get Quicktime 7.7.6 to install.

My only other beef is the XBox services not being available in Malaysia. And I don't mean gaming, I mean TV, Movies and Music. Clicking on an icon only to be told that the service is not available is a painful tease.

But boy, it's fast. Very fast. 3 seconds to boot on a dual-core Athlon64 x2 5000 with a old Seagate 7200rpm 250GB hard drive. Memory footprint is also quite small, using only 1.8GB of 3.5GB at default.

Interesting. Ruby's Athlon X2 dual-core 5000+ isn't that far off from Sally's. Not sure what the + indicates. That means Win10 could run just as good on Ruby.

But.... I'll stick with what I have for now. Greta has Win7, Ruby has XP Pro SP3, and the Vostro 220 has Vista Business. I don't know how well my ancient Adobe suite will run in Win10, and if I ever needed to upgrade either the Vostro or Ruby to something newer, I'd rather go with Win7 over Win10.

The Vostro shall be formally introduced very soon. I need to finish up a few things first. Wink
