The Spam Thread!
cpd2009, you quoted David when you wrote you quoted me.

cpd2009 Wrote:I don't care for Power Rangers. Tongue I do know the show exists, but a live action kids show featuring five heroes battling guys in monster costumes destroying a small city on a soundstage never piqued my interests.

Exactly. It doesn't look like any effort was put into the show.

cpd2009 Wrote:Grapes, what kind of TVs do you have at home? Ultra-modern flat panel LCD High Definition kind or the regular bulky Standard Definition kind?

Our main TVs are the newer flat kind. James had one in his previous home and moved it into the house we're in now. We later bought an additional flat TV. We also have an older and much smaller bulky TV set. Ben and I took turns with the small bulky thing, and we brought it with us on trips. On bored nights, we would stand in crazy positions with its antennae to get a signal from it.

Do random quotes ever pop into your heads, like songs pop into heads? Today, my brain's thoughts have decided to replay and replay something stupid. During preparations for the weddings of 2008 & 2009, my half-sister said,

Quote:"Fancy stuff for weddings is a dumb waste! When I get married, I want to get married in a t-shirt in the canyon where the bears throw up on me!"

This from the girl who can't look at people who have spinach in their teeth, because spinach in teeth is too gross for her. She also said something about eating McDonald's food instead of an elaborate cake.

You know, I've never really heard stories of people meeting up with bears in canyons.

So I wrote again. Like always I made things up as I wrote. Whatever.

*Just realized that the new chapter hit the mark of Thread #100. Congrats to me then. =P

Happens all the time. It's why I keep getting those "nothing lasts forever" fits- it's when a trigger causes the song to pop into my head and loop non-stop until I'm reduced to a wreck. I also have cases of random songs popping into my head due to a stimulii or a my thoughts hopping from one thing to another by means of association.

This actually uses a different map from the last image. And yes, shadow rendering problems. It's been like that since I upgraded the NVidia graphics cards drivers to 275.33.

School seems to be going fine for everyone so far. One of Brooklyn's stories was the funniest, especially with the way she laughed while telling it.

She has a reading class, and in this class, the teacher said, "Draw a face to show how you feel about reading."

For examples, the teacher drew a smiling face, a neutral face, and a frowning face.

Brooklyn drew, in her own words, "a frownie face crying".

Then the teacher said that extra points would go to those who drew faces with positive attitudes! Oops.

The students had to say out loud to the class what they drew, which isn't something I would have had them do. That could be embarrassing. Brooklyn said, "My... name is Brooklyn, and I drew a frownie face crying... " and other kids gasped in fear of reading after hearing that.

(No, it wouldn't have been a funny story had she not found it funny. Brook thought it was hilarious by this evening. I find it ironic that one of her nicknames is just one letter off from "Book", and maybe this is a sign that won't always be ironic.)

I can tell James sees himself in this girl, every bit as much as I see myself in my students. He is not her teacher in a classroom. He is, however, her father figure and he could become her father. The American adoption process is so much more... silly than several overseas adoption processes, which is why I opted for overseas in the first place. We, and other adoptive parents, don't understand why it's more complicated to adopt one child from your own state than it is to adopt more than one child from the other side of the globe.

Well, I'm glad my family is happy right now.

Also, inspired by tonight's dessert, does Luna Sopapilla (soh-pi-pee-yuh) sound ridiculous? I sort of think Sopapilla sounds like Sophia, making it sound like a name. Once again, I found something which sounds similar to Eulalia. On the other hand, Persimmons rhymes with our pronunciation of Madeline.

And as the story unfolds, Molly's dad James went home and became a family man:

On the side note, it turns out that the 280.26 drivers were released on the very next day after I upgraded to the 275 drivers >.> Installing them was hell- the installer froze my PC up when run, but I got it installed by booting into safe mode and uninstalling everything belonging to the old drivers first, then installing the new drivers in safe mode.

The performance seems to suffered quite a lot (WEI dropped from 7.5 to 6.9), but it definitely fixed the shadow problems I had with the previous drivers.

Do you think American Girl will ever make an Addy movie, or do you think that would be considered too grim because of the events of the first book and the impossibility of editing the first book out?

Barely making it on my time zone: I hope Sandy's mother had a happy birthday!

They did an Addy musical afaik; I'm not sure about the possible controversies that may arise from making her story a theatrical one.
