Tired.
Just updated OS X to 10.9.4. As for the sound kext being overwritten by the update, it ain't something a little downgrade to my trusty old AppleHDA patched kext can't fix.

I probably won't have my Mac upgraded to it since I am planning on selling it off.

Yeah... poor Lilly. Never managed to reach her full potential because of Apple itself. I knew I should have made her a PC from the get go, and now I pay the price. I tried to keep Lilly in use, but I just have too many computer systems as it stands. No room to fit her in and I don't have the money to invest in a KVM switch at the moment.

The only way I could keep her is to turn her into a Windows 8 box via BootCamp and use my productivity software there, but what would happen to Audrey afterwards?

Why am I blaming Apple for her failure? It's for a few reasons...
1: Apple claims that the Mac Mini is small yet powerful. With 10.7 Lion and 8gb RAM, you can get good performance. That performance went away with 10.8. I haven't toyed around with 10.9 enough to judge if performance is any better.

2: Planned Obsolescence. When will my Mac Mini stop getting updates to newer OSX releases?

3: OSX adding new features I don't use, such as iBooks, Maps, and now Siri. These would be useful if I read eBooks and had other iDevices, but I don't. I'm a Windows person and interoperability between Windows and Mac is still limited. There is also no built in way to uninstall applications without buying an app remover from the App Store.
Yeah, Apple does tend to be bonkers when it comes to retiring their wares, among other things like locking iOS down into a walled garden. It accounts to why I never plan to get an iOS device at all, as it's a pain in the arse to jailbreak compared to rooting on Android.

As for OS X lacking an uninstall utility, CCleaner has one built in, and it's for free.
Lately my ping has been not so good to various common sites (500+). Maybe I should make a call to the ISP.
oh, great. I forgot to apply 10.9.4...

As for me, I have several reasons I wish to stick with an original Mac Mini, no matter how lowly the spec is. Firstly, as I am an iDevice owner (blame Spot), I need the Mac for syncing. For some reason syncing on a Windows machine takes forever compared to syncing on a Mac. Secondly, I still plan to develop for iOS. My computer auditing app should be ready any day now. And I may want to resurrect my pony catalog app in the distant future.

Have you tried syncing Eva with iTunes via one of your extremely fast gaming rigs? If syncing is still slow, then Apple is to blame for intentionally slowing it down for Windows users.

That is why I go for Android. I know that Android is of no use to you since some of your favorite apps don't have an Android version at all. I just don't like the idea of being required to use iTunes to sync video, pictures, and music.
I know there are third party utilities that you can use instead of iTunes, but still, ADD AN SD CARD SLOT, APPLE!

With Hazel, you can basically throw all your photos and videos on a MicroSD card that the size will allow and you are good to go. No syncing necessary. Well...

Hazel, being a Samsung tablet, has an optional "Kies" utility, where you can sync stuff to your tablet, but I choose the easier SD card option obviously. Wink

I wonder if Samsung has forgotten about Hazel and the Galaxy Tab 2 series in general. She still runs great, but the latest model is the GT4 with Android Kit Kat.
EDIT: They have. According to their official KitKat upgrade guide, only GT3 and higher devices are scheduled to get KitKat, depending on the provider. I could root Hazel and get KitKat that way, but Jelly Bean works nicely as it is.
Speaking of Android not getting any apps from certain developers, American Girl's one of those who don't seem to realise the said operating system's market share compared to iOS. It ain't like every single AmGirl doll fan has an iPhone or iPad.

Tried. Not only does it takes forever, it adds a ton of autostart entries that degraded the performance of Sally. Apparently it has something to do with how Windows handles USB ports that causes the slowdowns.

No Spot for Android. And as Blake pointed out, no AG for Android either.

The lack of an SD CARD slot is apple's attempt to prevent sideloading of apps and as a boneheaded copy protection method.

Again, it's not about syncing my music (I've pretty much given up of using Eve for music and moved my music to my cellphone (Tessa), with a backup copy on my 3DS (Isabelle II), after finding that I can't cram my entire music library into it, even after wiping off half of my apps. OTOH I never really used her fully for music anyway).

Again, it's not about media. It's about the apps I need. Also, I've used Android before. You can't install apps onto the SD Card if the developer of the app don't want you to. Even when rooting the device, doing so destabilizes the device. Again, my problem is not about media. It's about the apps I need. Some Android devices have ridiculously small amount of memory (I'm looking at you, HTC!).

Also, as mentioned, I need a Mac Mini to do dev work. Apple's policy is that you can only develop for iOS on a Mac.

Typical of Apple, restricting iOS dev kits to Macs only.

As Blake mentioned, some iOS developers are seemingly unaware of just how large the install base of Android is. If the app developers could cater to both iOS and Android, the developers could get more customers, and more consumers could break free of iOS's limitations and switch. However...

iOS and Android are two entirely different systems and require their own dev kits for each. I'm guessing some iOS developers do see how large Android has become, but either don't want to invest in a workforce to port iOS apps to Android or they don't want to deal with Java-based coding.
