This post is about computers, but I promise I won't get technical beyond laptop features. It's mainly a post in regards to decision making, and perhaps I will ask questions to those who are knowledgeable about a particular laptop brand.
Wendell, my current laptop, is a good laptop. I only had him for a little over a year now, but just this past December/early January, I discovered that complex websites that use that Flash plug-in can be very taxing on Wendell. Videos on YouTube and whatnot play fine, but Webkinz....meh. I mentioned this before, but Webkinz on Wendell is hit-or-miss in performance. Some features play fine, while others like Hoppy Little Rocketship are nearly unplayable due to very laggy graphics performance. Strange, since non-flash casual games (like Peggle) play great. Enabling hardware accelerated rendering in Internet Explorer helps performance somewhat, but it's still far behind Lilly. I normally just use Webkinz on Lilly, but there are times when I will be on trips and Wendell is my only gateway to the internet.
So, when I had HSN2 on Anna-Lena today, they showcased this beauty...

It's a neat looking Gateway laptop, with a dedicated graphics processor. Having a separate graphics processor in a laptop can improve performance since it doesn't rely on the CPU or system RAM for performance. This Gateway laptop has an nVidia GeForce 610M GPU with 1gb video memory. Wendell currently has an integrated Radeon 6310 GPU which is embedded inside his main processor. In theory, the dedicated GPU should increase graphics performance.
I really do like that white color option. It makes the laptop stand out. I can already imagine a name for it if I bought it today...
Other laptops i have in mind are the ones below:
Toshiba L755-S5153: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://preview.tinyurl.com/6puqnwc">http://preview.tinyurl.com/6puqnwc</a><!-- m -->
HP g7-1261nr: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://preview.tinyurl.com/6oexkqw">http://preview.tinyurl.com/6oexkqw</a><!-- m -->
HP g7-1310us: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://preview.tinyurl.com/6qraz3x">http://preview.tinyurl.com/6qraz3x</a><!-- m -->
I wonder if I should get the Gateway laptop, any of the others, or just hang on to Wendell? Besides Webkinz, Wendell is fine for the most part, but who knows? Maybe one of these other laptops would be better overall, and Wendell could become a sole Linux laptop.
Any help in decision making would be appreciated, especially if one has good experiences with either nVidia laptop GPUs or HP laptops.
